Aave V3 guide
Aave liquidation alert and protection tools compared
By the Tokenping teamPublished Updated 26 min read
Short answer
Aave's own interfaces (app.aave.com and Aave Pro) show your health factor but send no alerts, so warnings come from third-party tools. Otomato and HF Guard send alerts on Telegram at no charge today, and DeFi Saver Automation repays debt for you if your position meets its requirements. Tokenping, which wrote this guide, fits if you want the alert on Signal, by email or on Telegram from one tool, and you accept that its alerts are paid.
Applies to Aave V3.7, checked on the Ethereum Core, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche and Gnosis markets. Other V3 markets and networks may run older versions. Aave V4 differences are noted where rules differ. Figures as of .
Last checked: 19 Oct 2026. Every row in the comparison and shutdown tables was re-checked against its linked source on that date and shows its check date; the check-interval table comes from the same checks. Tokenping is one of the tools compared, so how we compiled this sets out the method and its limits, and what changed lists the differences from the previous version.
Which Aave alert tool is right for you?
Aave liquidation monitors and position trackers differ in where they send the warning and in whether software acts on your position for you. Who each tool is best for, based on the vendors' own pages on 19 Oct 2026:
- Otomato: you want alerts on Telegram or in a mobile app without a fee, and you'd rather paste a wallet address than connect a wallet. It covers Aave V3 on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, Avalanche and Monad, and up to three wallets cost nothing.
- HF Guard: you want a Telegram bot with a web dashboard that reads Aave V3 on 23 networks and Aave V4 on Ethereum, Avalanche and Arc from a pasted address, and you accept a beta whose alerts "may be delayed", in its own words.
- DeFi Saver Automation: you want debt repaid automatically, and your position has at least $30,000 of debt on Ethereum, or $500 on Arbitrum, Optimism or Base. Most of its automations also need one collateral and one debt asset.
- DeFi Saver Notify: you already manage your position in DeFi Saver and want ratio alerts in its app, by email, in Blockscan chat or on Telegram.
- DeFi Monitor: you want alerts in Telegram or Discord for Aave V3 on Ethereum or Arbitrum, next to alerts for other lending protocols.
- Ava: you borrow on Ethereum or Base and want a Telegram-first assistant that prepares the repay or top-up transaction, with optional automatic execution.
- A browser extension (Aave Monitor or Aave DeFi Watcher): a toolbar badge or a desktop notification while you're at your computer is enough.
- Tokenping: you want the alert on Signal, which no other tool checked here lists, or you want Signal, Telegram and email side by side with a Send test button for each. It also reads every Aave V4 Spoke, including the one on Base that HF Guard's page doesn't list.
All of these tools watch the health factor, Aave's measure of how safe a loan is: collateral weighted by each asset's liquidation threshold, divided by debt. Below 1.00 the position can be liquidated (what the Aave health factor is covers the formula). No tool removes that risk: an alert gives you time to act, and a fast price drop can still land between two checks.
How do Aave alert and protection tools compare?
Most Aave health factor alert tools cost nothing or come with a no-cost tier plus paid plans, are read-only, and work from a pasted wallet address: Otomato, HF Guard, DeFi Monitor and the Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher extensions. The tools that repay debt (DeFi Saver Automation, Ava's Auto mode, Instadapp) need a smart wallet or a permission, and DeFi Saver and Instadapp also set minimum sizes and charge per action. Tokenping is the only tool here that sends alerts on Signal, and its alerts are paid. Each row was checked against the source in its last column on 19 Oct 2026; "not stated" means the vendor's page doesn't say.
| Tool | Status | What it does for your health factor | Channels | Alert or automation | Wallet connection and permissions | Price | Networks and Aave versions | Source, checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tokenping (publisher of this guide) | Live, in beta | Alerts when the signed-in wallet's health factor in one Aave V3 market or one Aave V4 Spoke drops below your threshold (1.1 to 10, default 1.5). Checks every 5 minutes and repeats the alert on every check while below, with no "recovered" message. Each channel has a Send test button (one test per wallet and channel every 15 minutes) | Signal, Telegram, email; each channel can be in English or Czech. For Telegram you type your username and press Start once in the Tokenping bot | Alert | Connect a wallet and sign in with a signature (a message, not a transaction, so no gas); the session lasts 7 days and the only cookies are the sign-in ones. Nothing is approved on Aave; the only transactions are an exact-amount USDC approval and the payment, on Arbitrum. Watches the signed-in wallet only | Alerts cost 3 USDC per 30 days, paid on Arbitrum; the dashboard needs no payment | Aave V3: all 24 markets on 21 networks, Ethereum's Core, Prime, EtherFi and Horizon included; not the frozen Harmony and Fantom markets. Aave V4: every Spoke on Ethereum, Avalanche, Arc and Base (20 Spokes, the 20 that Aave's V4 API listed). Each market is its own alert | Source code, payment contract and Aave V4 API, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Checking the Aave app (app.aave.com, Aave Pro) | Live | Shows your health factor when you open the app; Aave Pro shows one per V4 market. Aave's help page says to monitor it regularly | None: you have to open the app | Neither | Not applicable | No charge | All Aave V3 and V4 markets | Aave help, Aave Pro, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Otomato | Live; iOS app version 1.0.24 dated 25 Sep 2026 | Finds every Aave V3 position in a pasted wallet and alerts on health factor (its defaults include an alert at 1.2, adjustable per position) and on distance to liquidation in dollars. Also rate spikes, depegs, governance actions and cap changes | iOS and Android app, Telegram. No email listed | Alert | None: paste an address. Read-only, no signatures | Core Aave monitoring at no charge, up to three wallets; premium planned for more wallets and overnight phone-call escalation | Aave V3 on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Polygon, Avalanche, Monad. V4 not mentioned on its Aave page | otomato.xyz Aave page, homepage, App Store, 19 Oct 2026 |
| HF Guard | Live, beta | Tracks health factor, liquidation distance and risk level for supplied positions. Alerts when a position enters a different risk level, and can also alert when the health factor crosses levels such as 2.0, 1.9, 1.8, 1.7 and 1.6. Its pages say alerts are best-effort and may be delayed. Also Compound V3, Morpho Blue, Fluid Multiply, Euler V2, Jupiter Lend and Kamino Lend | Telegram bot and a web dashboard. No email or other channel named | Alert | Paste a public wallet address. Read-only, no keys or transaction permissions. The dashboard signs in with email and password or with a connected wallet | Its FAQ says it costs nothing during the beta; no later price stated | Aave V3 on 23 networks, Gnosis included. Aave V4 on Ethereum, Avalanche and Arc | hfguard.app, terms, 19 Oct 2026 |
| DeFi Saver Notify | Live | Ratio monitor that alerts when the position goes below or above a level you set; Aave V3 supply-cap monitor; notices of automated actions. A Telegram bot shows your positions and sets alerts | In-app by default; email, Blockscan chat and Telegram optional | Alert | Connect a wallet on DeFi Saver and authenticate. Works for Smart Wallet and regular-wallet positions | Not stated | Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism. Protocols: Aave, Liquity, Maker, Compound. Aave V4 alerts not stated | DeFi Saver help, Telegram bot, 19 Oct 2026 |
| DeFi Saver Automation | Live | Liquidation Protection repays part of the debt when DeFi Saver's Safety Ratio falls below a fixed minimum (105% on Aave V3, 110% on V4), lifting it 5 points; Automated Leverage Management repays at a ratio you choose. Also stop-loss, take-profit, collateral switch. Only Automated Leverage Management works with more than one collateral or debt asset | Notices through Notify | Automation | One setup transaction. The requirements page allows regular wallets (EOAs) only on Aave V3 and Compound V3; for Aave V4 DeFi Saver's help says automations are for Smart Wallet positions and EOA support is a goal. The Collateral Switch automation always needs a Smart Wallet. Gas is charged to the position | Nothing to keep it enabled. Per executed action: a 0.05% automation fee plus a swap fee of 0.25% (0.1% for correlated assets such as ETH and wstETH, 0.01% for stablecoin pairs), plus gas | Aave V3 Core and Aave V4, not V3 Prime or EtherFi, and none for Aave on Linea or Plasma. Minimum debt $30,000 on Ethereum (V3 and V4), $500 on Arbitrum, Optimism, Base (V3) | Fees, requirements, compatibility, Aave V4, regular wallets, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Ava | Live | Watches the Aave health factor and prepares a top-up or repay transaction for you to sign. Optional Auto mode checks hourly and acts on its own | Telegram first; web app; email, Discord and Slack can be switched on in web settings | Alert, optional automation | Alerts: a wallet address in Telegram, no signing. Manual: you sign each transaction. Auto: fund an Ava smart wallet and sign a permission (no spending limit and a 365-day expiry by default; a narrower option on the web) | Nothing is charged today; Ava says it is exploring a usage-based fee only on actions that create value | Aave V3 on Ethereum and Base | avaprotocol.org, pricing, 19 Oct 2026 |
| DeFi Monitor | Live, beta; latest changelog entry 22 Mar 2026 | Health factor and liquidation-risk alerts with thresholds you set. Also Spark, Morpho Blue, Compound V3 and Uniswap V3 | Telegram, Discord | Alert | Sign in with email and add any wallet address. Read-only, no keys or signing rights | A no-cost tier "for early users"; paid plans: Pro $4.99 a month (10 addresses, 20 subscriptions) and Ultra $9.99 a month (30 addresses, 60 subscriptions) | Aave V3 health factor on Ethereum and Arbitrum. Aave V4 not stated | defi-monitor.com, pricing, changelog, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Aave Monitor (browser extension) | Live, extension version 2.11.1 (updated 24 Feb 2026) | Shows a starred address's health factor as a toolbar badge whose colour changes at thresholds you can set; several addresses | Browser badge, no push message | Alert (passive) | No wallet connection; reads getUserAccountData from Aave | No charge | Aave markets chosen per address; the developer's latest additions (Feb 2026) are Mantle and MegaETH. Aave protocol version not stated | Chrome Web Store, forum, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Aave DeFi Watcher (browser extension) | Live, extension version 1.0.0 (updated 27 Jul 2026) | Badge plus desktop notifications when health factor risk worsens (not on recovery); several addresses. Polls every 5 minutes by default | Desktop notifications, browser badge | Alert | No wallet connection; read-only | Installs at no charge (no price on the store listing); its site says no subscription, account or premium tier | Aave V2, V3 and V4 on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Avalanche; for V4 only the Main Spoke on Ethereum | Chrome Web Store, aavewatcher.com, forum, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Instadapp Protection Automation | Unclear: the guide was last updated about 3 years ago | Repays debt toward a target health factor when it falls below a trigger | Not stated | Automation | Automation authority on an Instadapp smart account (DSA) | 0.3% to 0.4% per automation event | Aave V3 on Polygon and Avalanche; activation minimum $1,000 (Polygon) or $5,000 (Avalanche) of collateral. The guide also lists a Mainnet minimum and gas, which conflicts with that list | Instadapp guide, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Tenderly Alerts | Live (developer tool) | Generic triggers (events, state changes, a view function's return value) that can approximate a health factor alert with custom setup | Email, Slack, Telegram, Discord, webhook, PagerDuty, Sentry | Alert (Web3 Actions can run code) | You configure the contracts and addresses yourself | Paid plan only (contact sales) | Networks with Tenderly monitoring, Gnosis Chain included | Tenderly alerts, networks, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Scripts and agent templates (KeeperHub, OpenClaw, Chainlink CRE, Reactive Network) | Live, except Reactive's, which is a testnet demo | KeeperHub example: health factor every 5 minutes, Discord message below 1.5. OpenClaw skill: Aave V3, every 6 hours by default. Chainlink CRE template: a generic lending template in which an LLM picks defensive actions and executes them (private beta). Reactive Network post: contracts that top up collateral or repay Aave V3 debt, with deployment steps for the Sepolia testnet | Varies (Discord, Telegram, Slack in these examples) | Alert or automation | Self-hosted; KeeperHub's write actions need a connected wallet | Varies | KeeperHub: Aave V4 Lido Spoke on Ethereum. OpenClaw: Ethereum, and its page says it also works on Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche and Gnosis. Chainlink: no protocol or network named | KeeperHub, OpenClaw, Chainlink, Reactive, 19 Oct 2026 |

How often does each tool check your health factor?
Stated check intervals for Aave health factor tools range from every 5 minutes to every 6 hours, and most alert services don't publish one. The interval is the longest a drop below your threshold can go unseen by that tool, before any delivery delay. Intervals as stated by each vendor on 19 Oct 2026:
| Tool | Check interval, as stated by the vendor | Checks per day |
|---|---|---|
| Tokenping | Every 5 minutes | 288 |
| KeeperHub's example workflow (Aave V4) | Every 5 minutes | 288 |
| Aave DeFi Watcher | Every 5 minutes by default, changeable in settings | 288 by default |
| Ava, Auto mode | Hourly | 24 |
| Aave Monitor's iOS widgets (developer's guide) | Every 60 minutes by default, more often as risk rises | 24 or more |
| OpenClaw "aave-liquidation-monitor" skill | Every 6 hours by default, configurable | 4 |
| DeFi Monitor | No number given ("checks run continuously"); its changelog of 20 Feb 2026 adds checks triggered by Aave V3 events | Not stated |
| HF Guard | "Checked periodically", no number | Not stated |
| Otomato, DeFi Saver Notify | Not stated | Not stated |

Checks per day are 1,440 minutes divided by the interval: 1,440 ÷ 5 = 288, 1,440 ÷ 60 = 24 and 1,440 ÷ 360 = 4. Tokenping works through saved alerts one after another in each run, so a message can arrive a little after the 5-minute mark.
Alerts or automation: which do you need?
Automation is the stronger choice when you can't count on being reachable at the moment it matters and your position meets the tool's requirements. Alerts suit positions below automation minimums, networks or markets that automation doesn't cover, and borrowers who don't want software that can move funds in their position.
An alert tool tells you that your Aave health factor is falling and leaves the fix to you. An automation tool repays debt for you once you give it authority to act; DeFi Saver and Instadapp also set minimum sizes and charge per action, while Ava's Auto mode charges nothing today and acts from a separate Ava smart wallet you fund. Neither prevents liquidation in every case: alerts depend on you acting in time, automation on its trigger, check interval and transaction going through.
What alerts cost you is attention, and the risk of acting late. In May 2021 a Polygon forum user tried to repay at a health factor of 1.01, hit repeated errors, and was liquidated before the repayment went through. In December 2024 an Aave forum user described more than an hour of stuck repay attempts followed by liquidation. An alert threshold well above 1.0 leaves room for that kind of delay.
A worked example on the Aave V3 Ethereum Core market uses WETH collateral and USDC debt. The parameters were read on-chain on 14 Oct 2026 (Ethereum block 26,194,044) and read again on 19 Oct 2026 (block 26,225,316) with the same values: WETH liquidation threshold 83%, liquidation bonus 5%. The ETH prices are illustrative, and USDC is taken as $1.00.
- You supply 10 WETH and borrow 12,000 USDC. If ETH falls to $1,420, the collateral is worth $14,200 and the health factor is 14,200 × 0.83 ÷ 12,000 = 0.982.
- A liquidator may then repay up to half the debt, 6,000 USDC, because the health factor is above 0.95 and both reserves involved are worth at least $2,000 (Aave V3's rule; Aave V4 liquidates toward a target health factor instead). In return they take 6,000 × 1.05 = $6,300 of your WETH. The liquidation costs you $300.
- DeFi Saver Automation couldn't be switched on for this position on Ethereum: 12,000 USDC of debt is below its $30,000 minimum there. The same position on Arbitrum, Optimism or Base clears the $500 minimum.
- Where DeFi Saver Automation can run, it charges per action. On Aave V3 its Liquidation Protection repays only enough debt to lift the Safety Ratio from 105% to 110%, and each $1,000 of WETH it sells for USDC costs $3 in fees (a 0.25% swap fee plus a 0.05% automation fee, as published on 19 Oct 2026). Gas comes on top, and so does Aave's 0.09% flash-loan fee when no zero-fee flash-loan source has enough liquidity.
Once you're warned, how to raise your Aave health factor covers the options.
Which Aave health factor alerts cost nothing?
Aave health factor alerts that cost nothing come from Otomato, HF Guard during its beta, DeFi Monitor's no-cost tier, Ava (nothing is billed today) and the Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher browser extensions. Their terms as of 19 Oct 2026:
- Otomato: core Aave V3 monitoring (health factor, liquidation risk, rates) costs nothing for up to three wallets, on Telegram or its phone app. Premium is planned for more wallets and for overnight phone-call escalation.
- HF Guard: its FAQ says it costs nothing during the beta and gives no later price. Alerts go to its Telegram bot.
- DeFi Monitor: a no-cost tier "for early users"; its pricing page lists only the paid plans, Pro at $4.99 a month ($49.99 a year) and Ultra at $9.99 a month ($99.99 a year). Alerts go to Telegram or Discord.
- Ava: nothing is billed today. Its pricing page says Ava is exploring a usage-based fee only on actions that create value, such as protection that stops a liquidation, and not on monitoring or warnings.
- Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher: browser extensions that cost nothing and warn you only while the browser is running.
- DeFi Notifications app (Hexa Foundation): an iPhone app at no charge that can notify you when an Aave position's health is low. Its last update, version 1.1.20, is dated 21 Oct 2024.
- DeFi Saver Notify: its help pages don't state a price.
Tokenping's alerts cost 3 USDC per 30 days, paid on Arbitrum; looking at your positions needs no payment.
Are browser extensions enough to monitor an Aave loan?
Browser extensions are enough only if you're usually at your computer: they show a toolbar badge or a desktop notification while the browser is running, not a message on your phone. The two Aave extensions, Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher, read data from Aave's contracts and need no wallet connection.
- Aave Monitor (Chrome Web Store; version 2.11.1, updated 24 Feb 2026) shows a starred address's health factor as a toolbar badge: green above 2, orange between 1 and 2, red below 1 by default, with thresholds you can change. It sends no push messages. For phones, its developer suggested iOS home-screen widgets built with the Scriptable app (July 2025); they refresh hourly by default but don't notify you.
- Aave DeFi Watcher (Chrome Web Store; version 1.0.0, updated 27 Jul 2026) adds desktop notifications to the badge. Its store listing says it alerts only when the risk level worsens, which keeps repeat notifications down. Its own site adds that it polls every 5 minutes by default and lists Aave V2, V3 and V4 on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon and Avalanche, with Aave V4 limited to the Main Spoke on Ethereum.
A browser extension won't reach you while you're asleep or away from that computer. Message-based tools cover that gap: Otomato, HF Guard, DeFi Monitor, DeFi Saver Notify, Ava and Tokenping.
Which automation tools can repay Aave debt for you?
Three ready-made services checked here can repay Aave debt without you signing each transaction: DeFi Saver Automation, Ava's Auto mode and Instadapp Protection Automation. The alternatives to DeFi Saver Automation for automatic Aave repayment are Ava's Auto mode (Aave V3 on Ethereum and Base, no stated minimum) and Instadapp (Polygon and Avalanche, status unclear). As of 19 Oct 2026:
- DeFi Saver Automation repays in two ways. Liquidation Protection repays part of the debt when the position's Safety Ratio, DeFi Saver's risk percentage, falls below a fixed minimum (105% on Aave V3, 110% on V4) and lifts it 5 points. Automated Leverage Management repays at a ratio you choose, and it is the only DeFi Saver automation for positions with more than one collateral or debt asset. Both cover Aave V3 Core and V4 (not V3 Prime or EtherFi, and not Aave on Linea or Plasma) and need $30,000 of debt on Ethereum or $500 on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base. They work from a regular wallet (EOA) on Aave V3; on Aave V4 DeFi Saver's help says automations are for Smart Wallet positions and that EOA support is a goal. Each action costs a 0.05% automation fee plus a swap fee (0.25%, less between correlated assets), plus gas.
- Ava's Auto mode checks hourly, then tops up or repays from an Ava smart wallet you fund, under a permission that by default has no spending limit and lasts 365 days (the web app offers a narrower one). It covers Aave V3 on Ethereum and Base and charges nothing today.
- Instadapp Protection Automation repays toward a target health factor through an Instadapp smart account (DSA). Its guide lists Aave V3 on Polygon and Avalanche, a collateral minimum at activation of $1,000 (Polygon) or $5,000 (Avalanche), and a fee of 0.3% to 0.4% per event, but also mentions a Mainnet minimum and Mainnet gas. The guide was last updated about 3 years ago, so current availability is unclear.
Automation has failure modes of its own. Ava's documentation notes that its Auto mode checks hourly, so a fast market can move between checks. DeFi Saver's automation stays enabled but stops executing if the debt falls to $5,000 or less on Ethereum, or $500 or less on Arbitrum, Base or Optimism. Instadapp's guide warns that losses are possible and tells users to keep monitoring their positions.
How can developers build their own Aave health factor alert?
A developer can build an Aave V3 health factor alert by calling getUserAccountData(address) on the market's Pool
contract on a schedule and sending a message when the returned health factor falls below a threshold. The value has 18
decimals, and the contract returns the maximum uint256 value when the address has no debt, which means there is nothing
to alert on. Tools that shorten the work, checked 19 Oct 2026:
- Tenderly Alerts can trigger on events, state changes or a view function's return value, and deliver to email, Slack, Telegram, Discord, webhooks, PagerDuty or Sentry. Alerts are on its paid plan only, through sales.
- KeeperHub documents an Aave V4 example (the Lido Spoke on Ethereum) that reads the health factor every 5 minutes and posts to Discord below 1.5. Its read-only actions work without credentials; its write actions need a connected wallet.
- The OpenClaw skill "aave-liquidation-monitor" (version 1.0.1, released 11 Feb 2026) checks Aave V3 positions every 6 hours by default and sends alerts to Telegram, Discord or Slack. Its page names Ethereum as the main network and says it also works on Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche and Gnosis. Agent skills run on your own machine, so it's worth reading the code before installing one.
- Chainlink's CRE "automated liquidation protection" template goes further: a generic lending template, not specific to Aave, in which an LLM chooses defensive actions and executes them. It depends on Confidential Workflows, which are in private beta.
- Reactive Network's "Aave Unified Protection" (blog post of 14 Oct 2025) describes contracts that add collateral or repay debt for subscribed Aave V3 positions. Its deployment steps and asset list are for the Sepolia testnet, and we found no mainnet deployment, so treat it as a developer example.
OpenZeppelin Defender, a hosted option for this kind of monitoring, closed sign-ups on 30 Jun 2025 and was scheduled to retire on 1 Jul 2026. We found no later notice, and its app page loads without content, so we can't say whether it has retired; OpenZeppelin's announcement points users to its open-source Monitor.
What are the alternatives to HAL, Aave Alarm and Summer.fi?
No official HAL alternative exists: Aave removed the HAL notifications link from its interface in May 2024 because the service had shut down, and Aave's help page now names only DeFi Simulator and DeFi Saver as health factor tools, both marked "use at your own risk". Former users of HAL, Aave Alarm and Summer.fi now pick a third-party tool for the same job:
- Push alerts, as HAL and Aave Alarm sent: Otomato (Telegram, phone app), HF Guard (Telegram), DeFi Monitor (Telegram, Discord), DeFi Saver Notify (email, Telegram, in-app) or Tokenping (Signal, Telegram, email).
- Stop-loss, as Summer.fi offered: DeFi Saver Automation has stop-loss and liquidation protection for Aave V3 Core and V4, subject to its debt minimums and, for both of those automations, one collateral and one debt asset.
| Tool | What it did for Aave users | What happened | Source, checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| HAL notifications | Health factor notifications, linked from the Aave app | Aave's interface removed it on 30 May 2024 "since the service is shut down"; hal.xyz has no address record in DNS | Aave interface PR #2084, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Aave Alarm | Mobile app for low health factor and liquidation alerts | No longer downloadable; its README cites the end of Aave Grants and the developer's app-store problems, and its last code change is dated 28 Nov 2024 | README, 19 Oct 2026 |
| Summer.fi automation | Stop-loss and trailing stop-loss for Aave positions (announced for all Aave networks in March 2024) | Summer.fi says it is winding down and its app has been deactivated; ForkLog reported on 16 Jul 2026 that the team announced the wind-down on 15 Jul 2026 after an exploit of its Lazy Summer Protocol | summer.fi, newsletter, ForkLog, 19 Oct 2026 |
| DeFi Notifications app | iPhone notifications at no charge, including low Aave position health | Still listed, last updated 21 Oct 2024 | App Store, 19 Oct 2026 |
| OpenZeppelin Defender | Developer monitoring and automation | Sign-ups closed 30 Jun 2025; retirement scheduled for 1 Jul 2026, which has passed; we found no later notice | OpenZeppelin, 19 Oct 2026 |

Zapper, a portfolio dashboard, announced on 8 Jul 2026 that it would close on 3 Aug 2026 (The Block and Crypto Briefing). It isn't compared here: its own site was behind a bot check when we tried to read it, and we found no Aave health factor alert described elsewhere.
When is something other than Tokenping the better choice?
Another tool is the better choice if you don't want to pay for alerts, or you want a mobile app, a chat that answers questions about your position, automatic repayment, a market or network Tokenping doesn't read, alerts on events other than the health factor, or one message instead of repeats. In each case below, Tokenping can't do the job or another tool does it with less friction.
- You don't want to pay. Tokenping's alerts cost 3 USDC per 30 days. Otomato's core alerts come at no charge, HF Guard costs nothing during its beta, DeFi Monitor has a no-cost tier, and the Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher extensions cost nothing.
- You want to watch an address you don't connect, or several wallets. Tokenping watches only the signed-in wallet. Otomato, HF Guard, DeFi Monitor, Aave Monitor and Aave DeFi Watcher accept any pasted address.
- You want a mobile app. Tokenping has none; its alerts arrive in Signal, Telegram or your email app. Otomato has iOS and Android apps.
- You want debt repaid automatically. Tokenping only alerts. DeFi Saver Automation and Ava's Auto mode can repay for you.
- You borrow on Aave V3 on Harmony or Fantom, or on another protocol. Tokenping reads every Aave V3 market on a mainnet except the Harmony and Fantom markets that Aave froze in 2022, and every Aave V4 Spoke, and nothing outside Aave. HF Guard, DeFi Monitor and DeFi Saver Notify also cover other lending protocols.
- You want a chat that answers questions or shows your positions. Tokenping's Telegram bot only sends alerts and understands /start, /stop and /help. Ava answers questions about your position in Telegram, and the HF Guard and DeFi Saver bots list your positions.
- You want governance, supply-cap, rate-spike or depeg alerts. Tokenping alerts on the health factor only. Otomato covers those events.
- You want an alert at an asset price or a liquidation price rather than a health factor threshold. Tokenping has no price alerts. Otomato also alerts on your distance to liquidation in dollars, and DeFi Saver's automation can act, not just alert, at a target price (repay on target price, stop-loss).
- You want one message rather than repeats. Tokenping repeats its alert every 5 minutes on each channel while the health factor stays below your threshold, sends no "recovered" message, and needs a separate alert for each market. Aave DeFi Watcher, by contrast, notifies only when risk worsens, and HF Guard alerts when a position changes risk level.
- You need a long track record or published uptime. Tokenping is in beta and publishes no uptime figures.
If none of these rules Tokenping out, how to set up a health factor alert walks through the steps, and you can check your Aave V3 health factor before paying anything. The homepage has an overview of Aave health factor alerts on Signal, Telegram and email.
How did we compile this comparison?
We compiled it from each tool's own pages, re-checked on 19 Oct 2026, without testing alert delivery. Tokenping wrote this comparison and is one of the tools in it, so read it with that in mind. This is how we kept it as fair as we could:
- Every claim about a live tool comes from that tool's own website, documentation, app-store listing or developer forum post, linked in its row. Three shutdown items rest on other sources: HAL's on Aave's own interface code change, Zapper's on news reports, and the cause of Summer.fi's wind-down on a news report. We didn't use third-party reviews.
- Every row in the comparison and shutdown tables, and the check-interval table, comes from checks on 19 Oct 2026. Where a vendor's page doesn't state something, the table says "not stated" rather than guessing. Some vendor pages (Otomato, DeFi Monitor's pricing and changelog) only load in a browser, so we read them there.
- We didn't create accounts with, or measure alert delivery on, any other tool. This compares stated features, not tested speed or reliability.
- Tokenping's row comes from its source code, which is public so you can check what it does (re-read on 19 Oct 2026), an on-chain read of its payment contract on Arbitrum (block 516,226,427, 19 Oct 2026) and a query of Aave's V4 API for the list of Spokes. The price shown on this page is read from that contract and refreshed at most hourly. We haven't tested the Telegram bot's behaviour beyond reading its code.
- Tokenping's weaknesses are in its row and in the section on when to choose something else.
- A search can miss a tool. We also looked for Aave health factor alerts at DeBank, Zerion, Push Protocol and Notifi and found none documented today, so they aren't listed. If we missed one, tell us.
We plan to re-check every row each quarter and to change the "Last checked" date only when we do. If a row is wrong or out of date, tell us on X or Telegram and we'll correct it.
What changed since the 15 Oct 2026 version?
- Added: HF Guard, and Reactive Network's testnet example among the developer tools.
- Tokenping: the row now lists Telegram next to Signal and email, a Send test button per channel, a language per channel and sign-in with a wallet signature. We also corrected its coverage: Fantom's frozen Aave V3 market isn't read either, which the previous version missed when it named only Harmony.
- Aave DeFi Watcher: its own site gives a 5-minute default polling interval and limits Aave V4 to the Main Spoke on Ethereum, so its row and the check-interval table changed.
- Gnosis: the previous version said no ready-made alert service listed Gnosis. HF Guard's network list includes it, so that claim is gone.
- Otomato: up to three wallets cost nothing, per its homepage, and its iOS app is listed as Otomato: Wallet Tracker.
- DeFi Monitor: its pricing page now gives the address and subscription limits of the paid plans; its changelog has no entry after 22 Mar 2026.
- DeFi Saver: no automations for Aave on Linea or Plasma, and Aave V4 automations are for Smart Wallet positions.
- Aave Monitor: its store listing and its developer's forum post date the last update 24 Feb 2026, not 25 Feb.
- Shutdowns: Summer.fi's wind-down and Zapper's closing date are sourced, and Defender's retirement date has passed without a notice we could find.
